Dharma Connect through Dharma Drink Meetup
I have been running Dharma Drink Meetup group since 2012. It was started by Greg B in 2011. His intensions were to connect people who are interested in Buddhism, meditation, spirituality. This is because he experienced that while studying Buddhism in Nepal.
I thought that was a wonderful idea and I was very fortunate to be able to take the baton in 2012 from Greg B along with Pete S. Since running the Meetup, we have been connecting people in NYC area interested in Buddhism, meditation, spirituality to each other, to Buddhist sanghas, Buddhist events, and Dharma teachings.
Dinner and Discussion event at a vegetarian/vegan Indian restaurant. Ven Guo Xing of Dharma Drum Mountain kindly gave his time to answer questions directly to our members.
Invite Venerable Guo Xing to teach the Dharma
After meeting Venerable Guo Xing while volunteering—then abbot of Dharma Drum Retreat Center and Chan Meditation Center—I invited him to teach at our Meetup. For about two years, he generously offered Dharma classes and small group dinner discussions.

NYC Chinatown Buddhist Temple Walk
I had been going to Chinatown’s Buddhist temples ever since I arrived in NYC when I was young. When running the Meetup group, I found many members are not aware of the many Buddhist temples in Chinatown, so I led “Chinatown Buddhist temple tours.”
Support Buddhist Global Relief (Bhikkhu Bodhi)
Bhikkhu Bodhi and his disciples founded Buddhist Global Relief (BGR) to support people in need locally and globally. Each year BGR holds fundraising events such as walks or concerts. We support BGR through participation, donations, volunteering, and spreading awareness. Conversely, members learn about BGR’s amazing work and meet practitioners from different Buddhist sanghas.
